Writing Contest Winning Entry: Walking With Angels

Delighted to share the winning entry of our writing competition conducted in collaboration with Commaful, one of the largest libraries of multimedia stories on the internet. The theme to write on was ‘loss’, and this poem by bellatheninja was selected as the winner among 38 entries that we received.

I remember his voice like church bells
ringing in my ears.
His soft smile,
his gentle hands,
withered from the years.
His song echoed through my heart
but he left it all the same.
Dear Grandpa,
will I be with you someday?
Walking with the angels,
and seeing God’s dear grace?
Grandpa,
Will I see you again,
have a chance to touch your face?
Your sweet, soft song,
echoing through my heart –
please Grandpa, tell me,
how long will we be apart?
